Chevrolet
Volt
The Chevrolet
Volt is shorter than a Volkswagen tourism PassatGTE electric four, 58 meters
long, ten centimeters more than a Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid and twenty cm.
This second generation will not be marketed in Spain (in the US is going to do
in the second half of two thousand and fifteen) since Chevrolet is removed in
two thousand and fifteen European market. The first generation of the Chevrolet
Volt -try 2012- model engine and platform shared with the Opel Ampera, yes
model sold in Spain more than that is not going to be second generation as we
have confirmed in Opel Spain.
The Volt
model two thousand and sixteen is a very different vehicle relative to two
thousand and twelve. Now you have 5 places instead of 4 and its weight has
decreased hundred twenty five kg (one thousand six hundred and seven in front
of 1732 kg) while retaining the drive system one hundred fifty-one CV,
consisting of 2 electric motors and one of gasoline, although there are changes
in certain elements that compose it.
In contrast
to other plug-in hybrid models, the gasoline engine does not participate
directly in the movement of the wheels (although it exists mechanical
connection when tourism flows at high speed and the battery is discharged,
which is a source of discussion if the Volt is an electric or hybrid) vehicle,
work entrusted to two electric motors.
The gasoline
engine (two cent hp) is used to recharge the battery. Electric motors can be
used individually distributing the torque of the most perfect way. At low
speeds, the electric motor moves the higher power vehicle. At moderate speeds,
the two electrical machines provide torque as a function of needs, being able
to act the least of them as a generator to recharge the battery or engine
support as the first. Under conditions of increased demand for power the two
engines provide energy for propulsion.
Chevrolet
under the weight of electric motors has been lowered forty-five kilos and its
effectiveness has increased twelve percent, but does not give more details. The
battery is lithium-ion battery has a capacity of eighteen, 4 -in front
seventeen kWh 1 kWh-, nine, 8 kg lighter and has fewer battery cells than the
previous Chevrolet Volt (hundred ninety two in front of two hundred eighty
eight). Its power output is also higher -120 kW in front of a hundred and ten
kW-.
The gasoline
engine is different. The Volt has two thousand and fifteen 1.5-liter, direct
injection instead of indirect and high compression ratio -12.5: 1. Besides this
block is cast aluminum instead of cast iron and there is a cooling system
exhaust.
The Chevrolet
Volt has 4 driving modes: "Normal", which is activated by default at
startup and optimum battery consumption in routine driving; 'Sport' alters
throttle response for more vividly answer; "Mountain" alters the
administration to deal with steep slopes and "Hold", which leaves the
driver preserve battery power for use when required by activating the engine.
To reduce
drag, the grill has laminae that open or close depending on the cooling needs
of the engine. Chevrolet has not provided the data for this factor aerodynamic
Volt.
Autonomy is
eighty kilometers in electric mode and six hundred seventy-six km if gasoline
also used. Data are in accordance with the methodology used in the US,
different from that used in Europe. Accelerates from 0 to sixty miles per hour
(ninety six km / h) in eight, 4 seconds.
Chevrolet
says the body of the new Volt is brunt thanks to the use of higher proportion
of high strength steels. The charging port can be -optional- lighting, cable
and charging adapter are easier to use and the space where it is kept is more
attainable -now is located on the left side of the trunk, on the loading
surface in place under the floor of the trunk. It has a scheduling feature that
warns recharge via GPS when the vehicle is at home and can be configured to
recharge in seconds or lower depending on the electricity tariff scheduled
departure time.
